Creature
Founded in Santa Cruz, California, in 1994 by Russ Pope with the backing of NHS Distribution, Creature Skateboards has built a cult following through its distinctive horror-inspired graphics, heavy metal influences and uncompromising approach to skateboarding. Originally featuring riders including Jason Adams and Darren Navarrette, the company briefly disappeared during the late 1990s before being resurrected in the 2000s, with Navarrette and Sam Hitz helping establish its unmistakable identity. Known for its emphasis on powerful transition skating, backyard pools and raw street skating, Creature has assembled an influential team including David Gravette, Stu Graham, Willis Kimbel, Kevin Baekkel and Milton Martinez. Its signature green-and-black branding, monster graphics and memorable video productions have made it one of skateboarding's most recognisable companies. Part of the NHS family alongside Santa Cruz and Independent Trucks, Creature produces skateboard decks, shaped boards, completes, clothing and accessories, including its advanced VX construction decks.
