I-Path
Founded in San Francisco in 1999 by professional skateboarder Matt Field and Brian Krauss, I-Path Footwear became one of the most distinctive skateboard shoe brands of the early 2000s. Rejecting the oversized, heavily padded footwear popular at the time, I-Path introduced simple, comfortable designs influenced by skateboarding, music and alternative culture. The brand pioneered the use of hemp in skate shoes, while iconic models including the Cats, Grasshopper and Cricket developed a devoted following. Its influential team included Karl Watson, Kenny Reed, Nate Jones, Matt Rodriguez and Fred Gall. Following its acquisition by Timberland in 2007, I-Path eventually disappeared from the market in 2013. However, original co-founder Brian Krauss reacquired the brand in 2022, relaunching it in 2024 with updated versions of its classic designs and a renewed commitment to independent skateboard shops. Today, I-Path combines its unmistakable 1990s and 2000s heritage with contemporary skate footwear and everyday comfort.
