Vans Shoes
Founded in Anaheim, California, in 1966 by brothers Paul and Jim Van Doren alongside Gordon Lee and Serge Delia, Vans has grown from a small family-run footwear manufacturer into one of the most iconic brands in skateboarding. Originally known as the Van Doren Rubber Company, its durable canvas shoes and distinctive waffle-pattern soles became popular with Californian skateboarders during the early 1970s. In 1976, Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta helped develop the Era, Vans' first shoe designed specifically with skateboarders in mind. Legendary styles including the Old Skool, Slip-On and Sk8-Hi soon followed, becoming staples of skateboarding and youth culture worldwide. Acquired by VF Corporation in 2004, Vans continues to support skateboarding through its influential team, events and video projects. Today, its extensive range includes dedicated skate shoes, classic footwear, clothing and accessories, combining more than half a century of heritage with modern skateboarding performance.
